The Girl on theTrain is directed by Tate Taylor and stars Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux and Luke Evans. A divorcee becomes involved in a missing persons investigation that sends her life to a halt. Based on the novel that shocked the world – can this live up to its name?
I read the The Girl on the Train and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a real page turner. I had high hopes for the film when I heard it was coming to the big screen. However, it did not live up to my expectations. Don’t get me wrong, the acting was amazing, especially Emily Blunt, but it was slightly different from what happened in the book.
The Girl on the Train is worth seeing simply for the performances as they are all of an extremely good standard. I am a fan of this story as I read the book, and I think the film does a great job of bringing the book to life. The biggest difference is that the film was set in America, whereas the book was set in the UK. There were some moments where I thought the script was a little poor.
The Girl on the Train is edited in a very unique way – there are moments of slow motion and the use of flashbacks allows the narrative to jump between the present and the past
So the book shook the world – will the film? I honestly think it will. I think the twist is executed really well and definitely comes across as unexpected. It is a satisfying adaptation of the successful book, and overall a very good film.
